Can I Get TESTED for Menopause?

What are my hormone levels? Can my doctor just test me and then diagnose?

Surely this is a good way to gauge where I am at? Maybe it can tell me if I am in menopause or perimenopause.

Questions asked by most women.

The thing is in perimenopause hormone levels of our oestrogen and progesterone fluctuate daily and even different times of the day will give different results.

This makes them less reliable.

NICE guidelines and menopause societies do not recommend using blood tests to diagnose menopause.

There are exceptions for women under 40.

So how can someone and doctors know if they are in menopause then?

The best way for you to know if you are in perimenopause or menopause is to track your symptoms and cycle.

How so?

🌟Well there are menopause symptom trackers or questionnaires available everywhere. In australia have a look at Australasian Menopause Society score card.

🌟Tracking your menstrual cycle is also helpful. Making notes of changes to duration, flow, type, pain, frequency and so forth will help your doctor diagnose menopause with you.

When you go to your doctor, telling them you have done these is really helpful so you can come up with a plan of action together.

Hope this helps
